PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agricultural and horticultural bactericide and new sulfonanilides which exhibit excellent activity as its active ingredient. SOLUTION: The agricultural and horticultural bactericide comprises a sulfonanilide represented by the formula (wherein X is hydrogen, a halogen, an alkoxycarbonyl, an alkoxy or the like; Y is a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxyalkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, an alkylsulfinyl, an alkylsulfonyl, amino, nitro, cyano or the like; Z is C-R7or N; m is an integer of 0-3; R1and R2are each hydrogen, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxy, a cycloalkyl or the like; R3and R4are each hydrogen, hydroxy, a halogen, an alkoxy, an alkyl, an alkylthio or the like; R5is an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl or the like; R6is hydrogen, an alkyl or the like; and R7is hydrogen, an alkyl or the like) as an active ingredient.
