PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method for efficiently cooling a sheetlike article during traveling to sufficiently cooling the same even if the travelling speed of the sheetlike article is increased, and a cooling apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A water droplet-containing air stream is blown against the sheetlike article 1, which is supported on the outer peripheral surface of a support roll 5 to travel, at a high speed from an aerosol nozzle 6 to blow numberless fine water droplets against the sheetlike article 1 to efficiently cool the sheetlike article 1.
