PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a means which makes it possible to select both the functions of transmitting of data read by a scanner and transmitting the data attached to a mail, performs agent transmission, even in case of a transmission error etc., and informs a recipient of the fact of facsimile transmission or mail transmission, other than telephone calling, as to a hybrid machine having the functions. SOLUTION: Document data read by the scanner are transmitted from a scanner control section to an image editing section, which converts the data into image data. Further, it is decided as to which of facsimile or mailing is given priority from registration screen list information recorded on a hard disk; and when facsimiling is given priority, FAX data are transmitted from a FAX modem to opposite-side facsimile equipment via a FAX control section, but when mailing is given priority, a mail creation section creates a mail to mail the document data via an SMTP client and a LAN.
