PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly instructing a chasing playback of content in the middle of recording in a recording device connected via an IEEE1394 bus from a controller side. SOLUTION: The Status Descriptor of an HDR 2 is read by a DTV 1 and the content in the middle of recording is specified. An operation button to be operated when a user begins chasing playback of the content in the middle of recording is provided in an operation panel displayed in the DTV 1 for operating the HDR 2. When the button is operated, the chasing playback is requested from the DTV 1 to the HDR 2 and the chasing playback of the content in the middle of recording is started.
