PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic control system of an automatic transmission for a vehicle capable of securing a wider control area and enabling minute hydraulic control by improving a hydraulic control method. SOLUTION: The hydraulic control system of an automatic transmission comprises a valve 23 for controlling the pressure to be supplied to a friction element 21 such as a brake and a clutch. Friction element control pressure supplied through a port 26 to control the friction element 21 is switched from the solenoid control pressure of a port 24 to the line pressure of a port 25 by switching opening/closing of the corresponding ports 24, 25 and 26 of the valve 23.
