PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensively manufacturable friction type transmission capable of preventing reduction of efficiency of power transmission and providing excellent durability. SOLUTION: This friction type transmission is constituted as a compressor with a transmission as a friction type gear shift mechanism integrated with a compression mechanism of scroll type. Each planetary rotor 27 has a receiving face 27a coming into friction-contact with an input rotor 18 integrated with an input shaft 17, a gear shift face 27b coming into friction-contact with a gear shift ring 26, and an operation face 27c coming into friction-contact with an output rotor 25 integrated with an output shaft 24. A carrier 202 has a cut-out part 35b supporting a front part of each planetary rotor 27 and restraining travel of each planetary rotor 27 around a first axis 01 in the front part and a cut-out part 36c supporting a rear part of each planetary rotor 27 and restraining travel of each planetary rotor 27 around the first axis 01 in the rear part.
