ENVELOPE FOR IMAGE DISPLAY, SEALING MATERIAL, SEALING METHOD, AND IMAGE DISPLAY

Disclosed is an envelope for image displays which can be sealed at a temperature less than 400°C and has sufficient strength in a high-temperature environment. The characteristics of such an envelope for image displays do not deteriorate even under high moisture conditions including hot and humid atmospheres. Also disclosed are a sealing material and a sealing method. Specifically disclosed is an envelope for image displays wherein envelope-constituting members including an image display unit which is composed of a glass are sealed together via a sealing material layer. The sealing material layer contains an organic sealing material layer which preferably contains a primer layer and is obtained by firing an organic sealing material. The fired body of the organic sealing material has a viscosity of not less than 10⁵ Pa·s within a temperature range of 200-350°C, and preferably the bending strength thereof after being left at rest for 7 days under constant temperature and humidity (Temperature: 80°C, Humidity: 85%) is not less than 90% of the bending strength thereof before being left at rest.
