An image display device is provided with a rear board whereupon a multitude of electron emitting elements are arranged, and a front board (2), which is arranged to face the rear board and has a luminescent pattern and a light shielding pattern arranged at positions corresponding to the electron emitting elements. Marking areas (24) are provided at least in two areas on a non effective area on the inner plane of the front board (2), corresponding to alignment marks (45) on a dry plate (40), and each marking area (24) has three alignment marks (25). Thus, replacement of masks for R, G and B for each three-color luminescent pattern exposure is not required, and re-alignment between the mask and the board can be eliminated.
