<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve drive feeling while corresponding to torque requirement when a drive shaft is reversely rotated and driven, in a power output apparatus converting part of power from an internal combustion engine into electric power and transferring the remaining power to the drive shaft. <P>SOLUTION: In reverse drive with power outputting from the engine 22, a drive point of the higher engine speed corresponding to the larger accelerator opening out of drive points which can output target power of the engine 22 is set, and control is performed such that the engine 22 is operated at this point and torque requirement corresponding to the accelerator opening is output to the drive shaft. It is required that a torque level output from a motor MG2 increases with an increase in engine torque in the conditions of a fixed torque requirement of the drive shaft and a fixed output power level of the engine 22. Therefore, setting a drive point of the higher engine speed and the lower torque corresponding to a higher level of the accelerator opening enables response to the torque requirement, and setting a drive point of the lower engine speed and the higher torque corresponding to a lower level of the accelerator opening enables improvement of the drive feeling of the engine 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
