PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low height while securing magnetic attraction force of an electromagnet to an armature in an electromagnetic relay. SOLUTION: The electromagnet 28 of an electromagnetic relay 10 comprises a coil 34, an iron core 36 arranged along the center axis line 34a of the coil, and a yoke 38 which is extended from the iron core 36 toward outside of the coil 34 and has a flat plate portion 54 extending in nearly parallel with the center axis line 34a of the coil. The yoke 38 has an extension portion 58 which is extended in the approaching direction to the center axis line 34a of the coil at the end part 54a of the flat plate portion locally. The iron core 36 is provided with a main part 48 which is installed concentrically to the center axis line 34a of the coil and a head part 50 which is provided at one end in axial direction of the main part 48 and has a flat end face 50a crossing the center axis line 34a of the coil at nearly right angles, and the head part 50 has a rectangular outline extending long in horizontal direction nearly parallel to the flat plate portion 54 of the yoke and the main part 48 has a rectangular cross-section similarly extending long in horizontal direction.
