PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer controller and printer controlling method which enable a high-quality printing without a margin at the upper end of printing paper in an ink-jet printer to be realized. SOLUTION: The printer controller and printer controlling method are employed for the establishment of the relative positional relationship between a printing head and the upper end of printing paper at the position for initially feeding paper through receiving from a host computer the margin data of the upper end of printing paper indicating whether the printing data expected to be transmitted is the one for performing a printing without the margin at the upper end of printing paper or with the former margin and also according the margin data of the upper end of printing paper before transmitting the printing data.
