PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holding tool for reducing damage of a collar part and lowering the possibility of damage of the whole of the collar part, even if the damage is generated, in the tool holding tool having the collar part having a mechanism of sliding in relation to a shank part. SOLUTION: This tool holding tool has the shank part 10 having an outer peripheral surface fitted to a tapered hole provided in a spindle shaft to be a mounting object, the cylindrical collar part 20 fixed to the shank part 10 to relatively advance and retreat in a shaft direction, and a pressing means for pressing the collar part so that a distal end surface of the collar part may be abutted on a distal end surface of the spindle shaft in a fitted state of the shank part 10 into the tapered hole.
