摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI system having such a size and shape as to provide more smooth access for a patient. SOLUTION: The MRI system 100 comprises an asymmetrical magnet 108 for generating an asymmetrical leakage magnetic field 802 which is suitable especially for imaging extremities of the patient. In several other embodiments, the MRI system 100 comprises a cone-shaped casing 104 allowing the patient to more easily access an internal imaging zone (FOV) of the MRI system 100 when the extremities are imaged. In several embodiments, the MRI system 200 comprises a stepped inner bore 202 shaped like a step to concentrate the FOVs inside the inner bore of the MRI system at a small area closer to a position where the patient accesses the FOV to be especially suitable for imaging the extremities within the FOV.
