The invention relates to a method for the production of surface and depth variable embossing tools, wherein a rolling blank provided is in several steps with an etch-resistant coating and is the coating is partially removed physically with the aid of a relief roller having a predefined surface structure. The points where the coating is removed are etched until the relief is transferred to the blank at least partially in the form of a relief-type etching. At least one laser-sensitive coating is then applied to the etching of the roller blank and a structural pattern is partially removed by means of a thermal laser beam and an embossed image, which is compliant with said pattern, is created on the roller surface by means of etching. The remaining parts of the coating are subsequently removed. When the coating is removed, multi-dimensional mechanical recessing can also occur according to the deformability of the roller blank. |
