A touch panel manufactured at low cost with its flexible printing circuit (FPC) manufactured at high material use efficiency. The touch panel (100) is provided with a rectangular transparent panel (104), and a plurality of light emitting elements (8a) and light receiving elements (8b) arranged on the outer edge part of the transparent panel (104) for specifying the coordinates of an object to be detected. A long and thin FPC (106) is bent at a plurality of prescribed parts and arranged in a frame shape along four sides (122a, 122b, 122c, 122d) of the transparent panel (104). The light emitting elements (8a) are arranged on the FPC (106) along the two adjacent sides of the transparent panel (104), and the light receiving elements (8b) are arranged along other two sides to face the light emitting elements (8a).
