<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a component selection support system for selecting a standardized optimum component. <P>SOLUTION: This component selection support system having a component information library 10 storing information for selecting a component selects a plurality of components to be built in a main body from components stored in the component information library 10 and designs the selected component to function on the main body. The component selection support system is provided with a means, which previously stores a group code for classifying the components into groups according to their similarity in a component group information library 20, and a search means searching for an optimum component most suitable for a predetermined project from the components stored in the component information library 10 by using the group code as a key.
