PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water level detecting unit having compact construction for increasing heat radiating effects of a semiconductor contact which opens/closes a power supply to a pump motor, without the need for mounting a heat radiating aluminum case in the unit. SOLUTION: An arm 4 is delivered from the upper end face of the case 2 storing a control board 3 and its delivered end is formed as a mounting seat 5 on the upper face of a pump. A through-hole 7 passing through the upper end face of the case 2 into a wire outlet in the upper face of the pump is formed in the arm 4. The semiconductor contact 8 is connected to the control board 3 in the case 2, the semiconductor contact 8 is joined to an electrode rod 9 connected to the control board 3 in the case 2, the lower end of the electrode rod 9 is delivered from the lower face of the case 2, and a leader 10 from the control board 3 is delivered through the through-hole 7 from around the delivery end of the arm 4.
