PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit to be automatically adjusted so as to obtain maximum power supply efficiency corresponding to various load conditions. SOLUTION: The load condition detected by a load condition detector 9 is monitored by a load condition monitor 12. The load condition monitor 12 monitors a load condition for a certain period, discriminates the most frequent load condition of which the frequency is the highest, and calculates a load rate from the most frequent load condition and the maximum rating. An output characteristic adjuster 13 outputs a switching signal to an output section 5 so that load power is outputted in conformity with an output characteristic for making the efficiency which become the maximum efficiency by the load rate. The structural element of the output section 5 is changed by the switching signal, and the load power is outputted to a load L by the output characteristic in the output section 5.
