PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which has a picture memory property and quick response speed of switching between displayed images, and which makes full use of a characteristic of excellent contrast. SOLUTION: The image display device is equipped with a fixed or movable (for example, rotatable) column 100 and display panels 101-103 arranged on a side face thereof. The display panels 101-103 display an image by sealing an image display medium in a closed space between two substrates of which at least one is transparent and which are placed opposite to each other, and making the image display medium be transferred by applying an electric field to the image display medium.
