PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with a thick original by moving the position of a hinge pin up and down, to prevent a mount leg part from being largely turned or sprung up even when the mount leg part comes off from the mount hole of a device body, to stop and hold an original cover plate at the opening angle of a middle position, and to easily perform opening operation. SOLUTION: The original cover plate opening/closing device is equipped with a mount member (2), a support member (3) and the hinge pin (4), and the mount member (2) is equipped with the mount leg part (5) and a cam member (11) set around the hinge pin (4). The mount leg part (5) ascends and descends inside the mount hole (7). The support member (3) is equipped with a slider (12) and a biasing spring (13), and the slider (12) is equipped with an abutting part (15) sliding on a cam surface (14). A recess (16) is formed at the middle part of the cam surface (14). Rotational force required when the abutting part (15) moves from the recess (16) to a closing side is made larger than rotational force (F) in the closing direction by the gravity of the original cover plate (8).
