The glass or glass/ceramic plate, for domestic cooking appliances, carries functional displays for the cooking units. The display areas are dosed with at least one lumiophore material so that they glow for visibility when not in use. The luminescence is excited by a laser, lamp or LED with light that is pulsed or in a continuous wave. The glass material is additionally dosed with lanthanoids.
