The haloprotease produced by a moderated halophilic bacterium comprises a heat-stable industrial additive active in the temperature range 20-70 degrees C and over a wide salinity range (0-4 M of NaCl). The process for making the product produces an additive for extreme salinity, temperature and pH ranges, especially at alkaline pH.
