FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: brake for thread supplying apparatus has immovable accumulating drum adapted to receive and accumulate thread wound onto it and periodically to withdraw the thread directed from it into loom opening, braking member adapted to be resiliently deformed and pressed to axisymmetric braking surface of accumulating drum and provided with outer closed supporting ring disposed in holder, which embraces accumulating drum without coming into contact with it. Brake is further provided with drive controlled by control unit during operation of thread supplying apparatus and loom. Drive is mounted in holder and adapted for acting upon supporting ring to change pressing force applied by braking member to braking surface. Supporting ring is mounted for displacement within holder along axis of accumulating drum with predetermined axial play relative to braking surface in two opposite directions. Brake has at least one pusher drive connected with holder and providing motion only in parallel with axis of accumulating drum. Pusher drive serves to move supporting ring in each direction and arrange it in any required position on holder contact surface opposed to supporting ring in respective direction of motion.
