<p>There is disclosed a method for the conversion of active material from spent lead acid battery comprising, subjecting dry battery paste to a step of calcination in the temperature range of 400 °C - 450 °C using fluxing agent made of soda ash, sulphur and an organic reducer for conversion of lead sulphate and lead dioxide to lead monoxide, followed by a step of leaching with water. The organic reducer is preferably charcoal. The fluxing agent made of alkali carbonate, sulphur and charcoal can be used in the ratio of 20 to 22: 0.80 to 1.2: 1.8 to 2.5 parts per 100 parts of the active material.</p> |
