A mobile station, e.g. a cell phone, has a short range radio or infrared link for connection to a computer. To avoid quickly exhausting the battery power supply 25 of the mobile station, the short range link section 38 is shifted to a low power consumption mode in synchronism with a power saving mode of the mobile station, in which a backlight 29 of a display 14 is turned off when no operation 31 is performed by a user for a predetermined period of time 32. The short range link section 38 may be restored from low power consumption mode upon restoration of the mobile station from the power saving mode, in which the backlight 29 of the display 14 is turned on, when operation 31 is done by the user in the power saving mode. |
