Tunnelling IPv6 packets over IPv4 packet radio network wherein an IPv6 address including a tunnel end identifier of the IPv4 bearer is formed

A system for communicating IPv6 data via a IPv4 packet radio network. A user equipment (IPv6 UE) requests a bearer for communicating data according to the (IPV4) to and from a gateway support node (GGSN) of the packet radio network. The gateway support node establishes a tunnelling protocol bearer (IPv4 GTP Tunnel) for communicating to and from the user equipment across the packet radio network. The user equipment in combination with the gateway support node form an address which is compatible with (IPv6). The address includes an interface identifier having a tunnel end identifier (Gi) of the tunnelling protocol bearer which ends at the gateway support node of the packet radio network. The internet packet data is communicated to and from a correspondent node via the gateway support node and the established bearer using the IPv6 address.
