Modular air dryer of self-supporting construction

A wet paper web (4) is dried by a non-contact air drier passing a transverse segmented array of air jets arranged in two or more modules in the machine travel direction (MD). Each segment is 0.5 to 2 m in length. The segments are enclosed by a single insulating jacket (6), and are insulated (5) from each other. The segments are supported by a common support (S). The blower air temperature, speed and humidity are individually regulated at each segment.
