A recording and reproducing device comprises an approximately rectangular shaped main body 2, audio input and output portions, an image capture portion 6, preferably rotatably supported, and a monitor 7 slidable along the longitudinal length of the main body 2 via a guide groove (25, fig. 5). An urging member, preferably including coil springs (42a, b, fig. 6), is provided to urge the monitor 7 in a longitudinal direction, the direction depending upon whether the monitor is in a position where only a portion of its display area is facing outside the device or whether it has been slid so that the whole display area is facing outside the device. |
