The invention relates to a method for producing 1-octene from crack-C4 by: telomerizing the 1,3-butadiene contained in the crack-C4 with methanol in the presence of a catalyst; hydrogenating the telomer obtained thereby; cleaving the hydrogenated telomer, and; processing the cleavage product obtained thereby to form pure 1-octene.
