Crystalline form of omeprazole

Disclosed is omeprazole form C, having the unit cell parameters of: a=9.705-9.740 Angstroms, b=10.335-10.375 Angstroms, c=10.525-10.590 Angstroms, alpha=90.95-91.15°, beta=111.70-111.90°, and gamma =116.25-116.50°. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of omeprazole form C, comprising: (a) dissolving crude omeprazole in a solvent or a mixture of solvents in which omeprazole is freely soluble, and (b) precipitating omeprazole form C with acetone, in which omeprazole is poorly soluble, wherein adding acid to the solution of omeprazole in the precipitation solvent is excluded.
