System and method for licensing applications on wireless devices over a wireless network

A system and method for the controlling of software licenses for execution of applications on mobile wireless devices includes the mobile determining if it has a license to execute an application resident in the mobile memory, and if not requesting a license for that application from an application management server which provides a license to the mobile via the wireless network. When the license is received the mobile installs the license so that the licensed application is then executable.
