Aqueous aminoplast composition contains (A) aminoplasts; (B) formaldehyde-binding additive optionally containing a polyurethane (B13) with hydroxyl (OH) groups; (C) optionally acrylate resin as aqueous dispersion; and (D) water. The composition must contain (B13) and/or (C) if (B) consists of (B.a) specified organic OH compound(s) and (B.b) specified amide(s) that are soluble in water or a 1-4C monohydric alcohol. Aqueous aminoplast composition contains (A) aminoplasts; (B) formaldehyde-binding additive (B), optionally containing a polyurethane (B13) with hydroxyl (OH) groups; (C) optionally acrylate resin, as aqueous dispersion; and (D) water. The composition must contain (B13) and/or (C) if (B) consists of (B.a) specified organic OH compound(s) and (B.b) specified amide(s) that are soluble in water or a 1-4C monohydric alcohol. (B.a) is organic OH compound(s) selected from di-, tri- and penta-hydric alcohols with = 6 C, pentaerythritol, sorbitol, monosaccharides with = 6 C, disaccharides with = 12 C, polysaccharides with an Ostwald viscosity = 200 mPa.s at 25[deg]C and a concentration corresponding to 37% refraction, mono- and polyhydric aromatic alcohols with only one benzene ring and mono- and polyhydric phenols. (B.b) amide(s) are selected from aliphatic amides with = 6 C and aromatic amides with only one benzene ring. (B.a) and (B.b) are soluble in water or a 1-4C monohydric alcohol. An independent claim is also included for finished foils or edges, consisting of paper or cardboard impregnated with this composition.
