The device has a fueled reformer associated to a burner to produce hydrogen supplying fuel cell (1). A coolant circulation loop (3) provides thermal regulation for the cell. The loop has a derivation circuit towards a heat-exchanger thermally connected to the burner and a control unit. The control unit is guided by a calculator and directs reheated coolant in the circuit towards the cell during starting phase of the cell. An independent claim is also included for a process of regulating temperature during starting of a fuel cell of a vehicle.
