The roof has an opening front roof part (2) and a following rear roof part (3). The front roof part is guided with its front edge (2a) in rail guides (8) in roof side frames (4) fixed to the body and longitudinally movable between a closed position and a stowed position. The rail guides open into a rear stowage space (9) in which the roof front part is stowable in the stowed position. The rear roof part is pivotably coupled to the vehicle body on its rear side and the front roof part is pivotably coupled to the rear roof part. All rotation of the front roof part and the rear roof part takes place via transverse joint axles (10, 11, 12). The rear roof part is in the closed position for both the stowed position and the closed position of the front roof part.
