PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a defective optical characteristic not be visually identified from the outside even when it is produced in an electrooptical device due to mounting of a photo spacer therein.
SOLUTION: The electrooptical device 1 has an electrode 21 formed on a substrate 12a, a liquid crystal layer 16 formed on the electrode 21, a switching element 18 to switch between voltages to be applied to the electrode 21, the photo spacer 22 to regulate layer thickness of the liquid crystal layer 16, and a spacer light shielding film 19 disposed between the photo spacer 22 and the substrate 12a. The spacer light shielding film 19 is formed with a material which is identical to at least one out of a plurality of components constituting the switching element 18, for example tantalum, chromium, or the like. Even when an alignment defect is produced on the periphery of the photo spacer 22, the spacer light shielding film 19 makes the defect not be visually identified from the outside.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
