PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white balance device capable of simply carrying out highly accurate white balance without being affected by a spectral characteristic of a light source and a spectral transmissivity characteristic or the like of an imaging lens and to provide a program thereof. SOLUTION: A flowchart for denoting operations of a digital camera includes: a step S1 of carrying out photometry processing; a step S2 of acquiring the spectral energy distribution L (λi) acquired from separated lights by each wavelength by a prism diffraction grating 17 by way of a sensor array 18 or the like; steps S3 to S5 of calculating three stimulus values and chromaticity coordinates on the basis of the acquired spectral energy distribution L (λi); a step S6 of obtaining a deviationΔuv between a color temperature and a blackbody radiation locus on the basis of the calculated chromaticity coordinates; a step S7 of discriminating whether or not the obtained deviationΔuv is within a permissible range; and a step S8 of controlling a gain of an imaging signal on the basis of the obtained color temperature to carry out white balance when the discrimination indicates that the obtained deviationΔuv is within the permissible range, or carrying out error indication indicating that the color temperature measurement is failed when the discrimination indicates that the obtained deviationΔuv is not within the permissible range on the other hand.
