The portioning system (1) for a tea brewing machine has several hoppers (2) side-by-side. The hoppers are covered with a curved lid (26) and divided from each other conical sidewalls (27b). The tea is dispensed by cellular wheels (7) in a cellular airlock system. The wheels may be manually turned by hand levers (20) with ratchets and rotate under partial cover plates with knives. Upward extensions on the wheel axles carry stirrers with four arms (18). Apertures under the wheels allow portions of tea to fall into mugs (4) standing on a baseplate with receptacles (3) for the bases of the mugs. A shelf with cutouts (29) may stabilize the mugs.
