PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide broadcast receiver and program in which the time elapsing after channel switching operation of a user before program display can be shortened. SOLUTION: When a descramble key is acquired with reference to EPG information multiplexed on a TV broadcast signal in a mode other than a broadcast program viewing/listening mode, and a user selects the broadcast program viewing/listening mode after registering the descramble key on an EPG information table 30; the EPG information table 30 is referred and a current channel is descrambled using a descramble key corresponding to a channel selected by the user if it is registered on the table. Consequently, the time elapsing after channel switching operation of a user before program display is shortened and a broadcast receiver of good operability can be provided.
