PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sealing properties of the inside of the housing in which the main body of the electric double layer capacitor is housed. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is manufactured by the first step in which the junction 30-1 of the positive side terminal electrode 30 with the inside surface of the positive side opening 16-3 is thermally welded over the whole circumference of the junction 30-1 with the sheet 40 made of a synthetic resin having chemical resistance and thermoplasticity and the junction 32-1 of the negative side terminal electrode 32 with the inside surface of the negative side opening 16-4 is thermally welded over the whole circumference of the junction 32-1 with the sheet 42 made of a synthetic resin having chemical resistance and thermoplasticity, and by the second step in which the sheet 40 and the inside surface of the positive side opening 16-3 are thermally welded over the whole circumferences thereof and the sheet 42 and the inside surface of the negative side opening 16-4 are thermally welded over the whole circumferences thereof.
