PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of performing a display with excellent energy efficiency of color emission and high color purity. SOLUTION: A red filter layer 13 is arranged at a red color display portion and a green filter layer 14 is arranged at a green color display portion on the rear face of a glass substrate 12, and a first protection film 17A is formed flatly so as to cover these filter layers; and a blue/red conversion layer 15 is laminated on the first protection film 17A at the location corresponding to the red filter layer 13 and a blue/green conversion layer 16 is laminated on the first protection film 17A at the location corresponding to the green filter layer 14. Then, a transparent electrode 18 is formed along a prescribed direction at the front of an organic luminous layer 19 performing blue light emission so that the light emitting regions may correspond to these display portions and the rear face electrode 20 is formed on the rear face so as to cross the transparent electrode 18. With such a constitution, the blue light generated in the light emitting region is converted into red or green light by the color conversion layers, and the blue light is generated as it is as display light in the light emitting region where the color conversion layers are not arranged correspondingly.
