PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger excellent in reliability without damaging the inner surface of a heat transfer tube even if impact pressure such as airtight pressure or refrigerant enclosure pressure is applied to a spacer inserted into the heat transfer tube for improving heat conductivity. SOLUTION: This heat exchanger is so structured that the rod-like spacer for reducing the spatial volume in the heat transfer tube is inserted into a part where the refrigerant turns into a liquid phase; and a damage prevention means for preventing damage of a U-shaped bent part of the heat transfer tube and a return bend thereof due to movement of the spacer is formed between the heat transfer tube and the spacer.
