A socket for electric component which positively connects and secures an electric component before causing a contact pin to elastically come in contact with the electrode surface provided on the bottom of the electric component. A lever which is provided in a socket main body such that it is operated in association with the vertical movement of a socket covering applies a pressing force to a second contact pin, pressing down a contacting part in compliance with the lowering of the socket covering, and clears the pressing force of the lever in compliance with the lifting of the socket covering while causing the contacting part to elastically come in contact with the bottom of the electric component secured in a seating plate. Hence, the electric component is positively connected and secured before the contact pin is brought to be in elastic contact with the electrode surface provided on the bottom of the electric component.
