<p>Disclosed is a method for capturing a nucleic acid on a solid phase base surface which comprises a step wherein a sample containing a nucleic acid and having a pH of not less than 12 is brought into contact with a solid phase base surface on which divalent metal ions are immobilized. Also disclosed is a method for capturing a nucleic acid on a solid phase base surface which comprises a step wherein a sample containing a nucleic acid and a magnesium compound and adjusted to have a pH of not less than 12 is brought into contact with a solid phase base surface.</p>
