<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and precisely performing authenticity determination of a solid. <P>SOLUTION: A reference area on a paper that is a true matter is optically read from two different directions and registered as reference images. A collation area including the reference area and larger in size than the reference area on a paper that is an object of authenticity determination is read from two different directions by a scanner, and data of a partial area of the same size as the reference area are extracted from each collation data obtained by reading. In sets of the reference image and collation image optically read from the same direction, computing of a correlation value with reference image by normalization correlation method is repeated while shifting the position of the partial area within the collation area, and a maximum value of correlation value and the normalized score of the maximum value are compared with respective thresholds, whereby authenticity determination is performed. The paper of the object of authenticity determination is determined to be true only when "truth" is determined in the authenticity determinations in both the sets. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
