PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of AWG network scalability while preventing increase in a control cost by applying a mechanism of avoiding packet collision which can autonomously operate and dose not require exchange of a control signal to couplers, and by deriving the optimum number of installed couplers for minimizing the total number of transceivers while satisfying a given delay restriction condition.
SOLUTION: A coupler is provided with a packet collision avoiding mechanism in which only the packet having firstly arrived at the coupler 200 is allowed to pass and other packets are blocked when the coupler 200 is in an idle state on each wavelength channel in the network of a configuration where a plurality of nodes 100 are integrated in the coupler 200, and then, are connected to an AWG 300, out of an AWG single hop WDM network. With this configuration, the optimum number of installed couplers is calculated for minimizing the total number of required transceivers within a range of satisfying a given permitted packet transfer delay time from a given traffic amount.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
