<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of diagnosing whether un-burnt material is accumulated around a filter front end surface, namely whether clogging of a filter front end surface has occurred or not. <P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a first particulate remaining regenerating quantity estimation means 11 estimating particulate remaining quantity remaining in a filter 4 during a current regeneration process or particulate regeneration quantity removed from the filter 4 during the current regeneration treatment based on pressure loss of the filter 4 detected by a pressure loss detection means 12, a second particulate remaining regenerating quantity estimation means 11 estimating particulate remaining quantity remaining in the filter 4 during a current regeneration process or particulate regeneration quantity removed from the filter 4 during the current regeneration treatment based on parameter other than pressure loss of the filter 4, and a means 11 determining whether front end surface clogging of the filter 4 occurs or not during the current regeneration process by comparing the two kinds of particulate remaining quantities or the two kinds of particulate regeneration quantities. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
