PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of carrying out magnification processing and reduction processing of an original image without the need for using a line memory. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a first RAM 104 for storing image data of a first line among lines to be referenced, a second RAM 106 for summating image data of intermediate lines among the lines to be referenced and storing the resulting image data, and a third RAM 108 for storing image data of a final line among the lines to be referenced. An image memory address control section 102 sequentially reads image data by the capacity of the first RAM among the image data configuring the first line from an image memory 100, sequentially reads image data by the capacity of the second RAM among the image data configuring the intermediate lines from the image memory 100, sequentially reads image data by the capacity of the third RAM among the image data configuring the final line from the image memory 100, respectively writes the image data to the respective RAMs, and interpolation sections 112, 114 carry out the interpolation arithmetic operations by using the data.
