PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that punches printing paper sheets having different lengths such as receipts to form holes for filing. SOLUTION: This printer uses a roll of paper 11 as a receipt and comprises a punching section 14 and a cutting section 15 which are serially arranged from the roll of paper 11 toward an exit, and a printing section 13 provided to a portion at the front or rear side of them. In the above structure, the printer can wait input of receipt data by allowing the punching section 14 to form holes for filing at a portion in the vicinity of the top end of the roll of paper 11 before printing by the printing section 13. As a result, the holes for filing can be formed on the receipts having the same width and the different lengths, and then it is possible to allow an operator to hand over the receipt to a customer by immediately separating the receipt from the tip portion of the roll of paper 11 by using the cutting section 15 after the completion of the printing.
