Condition of oscillator (1) formed by coil (8) and capacitor (15) on AC is used for derivation of output signal determining path and/or position in space and/or material property of electrically and/or conductive body. Body is brought into electromagnetic field of coil and obtained measuring signal is compared with extraneous signal, which triggers switching action.Resistor (14) is series-connected to capacitor (15) of LC oscillation circuit (1-8-15). Preferably ohmic resistor of 30 to 100 ohms is used. Typically coil is of middle tap type, or formed by two coil windings (8a,b) in series.
