Excavation spoil or demolition rubble is fed, via dust control equipment, rotary locks, weigh feeders, etc. between at least two shafts , which may be fitted with e.g. disks, cutters or hammers, and maintained at a speed differential to produce slippage and create a surface charge on particles. Size reduction can be controlled by adjusting clearance between the shafts. An independent claim is included for equipment for processing civil engineering spoil.
